Tester terms

Last updated 11 October 2026.

These are the terms you accept when you tick the box on the testers form. On that form your phone number and your city are required, and so is your answer about the testers’ WhatsApp group.

  1. Who these terms are between. These terms are between you (the tester) and FARETAKE LIMITED (SC898537, registered in Scotland), called “we”.
  2. No charge while you take part. You can use the FareTake beta at no charge for as long as you are still taking part: using it, working with it and letting it send us the data described below. If you stop, we may end your access.
  3. Keeping the beta confidential. The beta has not been released. Please do not share the app, post it or pictures of it in public, or pass it to anyone else until we release it. Saying you are testing FareTake is fine.
  4. The data the beta sends. The beta records technical timing data, the text it reads from job cards (fares, distances, pick-up and drop-off areas) with names and addresses hidden by default, and your phone model, operating system and app version. After each shift, when you switch Active off, it sends a slice to our private cloud storage so we can find and fix bugs. It also sends a tiny numbers-only record for every job: what the app read, whether it matched the later receipt where one exists, whether you accepted, and whether reading succeeded, with no text, no addresses and no postcodes.
  5. How we may use your feedback. Bug reports, comments and ideas you send us can be used by us to improve FareTake, without payment. Please leave passenger names and full addresses out of them.
  6. The beta may not work properly. This is unfinished software with no warranty. It may stop working, or read a job wrongly. Estimates are not advice and you decide every job yourself. Do not rely on the beta for your income.
  7. The rules of other apps. FareTake is an independent app. It is not made, endorsed or supported by Uber, Bolt or Free Now. You are responsible for following the terms of the apps you drive for.
  8. Leaving the beta. You can leave at any time: uninstall the beta and tell us through the contact form. We can also remove you at any time.
  9. How we use your phone number. We use it only to add you to the testers’ WhatsApp group, if you said yes, and to talk to you about testing. We do not share it or use it for marketing. Other people in the group can see your number, as in any WhatsApp group.
  10. What we are responsible for. Nothing here limits rights you cannot lose by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, our total liability to you for the beta is limited to £100, and we are not liable for lost earnings or other indirect loss where the law allows that.
  11. Law and courts. These terms are governed by Scots law. Wherever you live, you keep the protection of the consumer laws of the country where you live, and nothing in these terms takes it away. You may bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live. There is no arbitration. Please contact us first so that we can put things right, but you do not have to. We reply within 14 days. You can ask for mediation at any time, and so can we. In mediation, an independent person helps both sides try to agree a solution. Neither of us has to accept it, and trying it does not stop you going to court.
  12. How long we keep your details. If you apply and are not accepted, we delete your details 12 months after you apply. If you become a tester, we keep them while you are a tester and for 12 months after you leave, or until you ask us to delete them. You can ask at any time through the contact form.
  13. Minimum age. You must be 18 or over.
  14. Changes to these terms. If we change these terms we tell you before the change applies to you, and you can leave if you do not agree.

When you have read these terms, you can go back to the testers form to apply.
